‘Walker: Independence’ Justin Johnson Cortez Joins Cast

Some Walker: Independence news for all of you Walker fans! Deadline has reported that Justin Johnson Cortez has joined the cast of the prequel, which was ordered to pilot by The CW.

Jared Padalecki, executive producer, and star of Walker is set to produce the series. Walker‘s showrunner, Anna Fricke, has written the teleplay alongside Walker‘s co-executive producer, Seamus Kevin Fahey. Larry Teng has also been set to executive produce, as well as direct the pilot.

TV Insider previously describes what the prequel would be like, stating, “Walker: Independence follows Abby Walker, an affluent Bostonian whose husband is murdered before her eyes while on their journey out West. On her quest for revenge, Abby crosses paths with Hoyt Rawlins, a lovable rogue in search of purpose. Abby and Hoyt’s journey takes them to Independence, Texas, where they encounter diverse, eclectic residents running from their own troubled pasts and chasing their dreams. Our newfound family will struggle with the changing world around them while becoming agents of change themselves in a town where nothing is what it seems.”

According to Deadline, Cortez will play Calian, a member of an Indigenous scouting party outside Independence. No news yet on who has been cast as Abby Walker and Hoyt Rawlins.
