The new adaptation of Jules Verne’s Around the World in 80 Days has not yet aired on PBS, but the show has already been renewed for a second season. Ashley Pharoah returning as showrunner.

David Tennant plays the adventurer Phileas Fogg in the upcoming adaptation. He is joined by Ibrahim Koma as Jean Passepartout and Leonie Benesch as Abigail Fortescue. Tennant is rumored to return as Phileas Fogg in season 2.

In the show, Phileas Fogg makes a £20,000 wager with snobbish members of the Reform Club that he can circumnavigate the world in 80 days.

A new adaptation of Verne’s novel Journey to the Centre of the Earth is also in the works, also with Ashley Pharoah as showrunner.

Around the World in 80 Days will premiere on Masterpiece PBS on January 2, 2022.
