Ethan Hawke (Training Day) stars in a new Lionsgate political thriller, Zeros and Ones, to be released in theaters, on Apple TV, and for rent on November 19. Hawke plays twin brothers, one a soldier named J.J. who must stop the clock on a violent plot set in Rome and must convince his twin brother, jailed as an extremist, to tell him crucial information.
Directed by Abel Ferrara (Bad Lieutenant, King of New York), the gritty action drama takes place one night in Rome. Hawke’s duo roles as hero and villain set amongst the capital city look like a must-see.
The trailer features views of Hawke as J.J., a soldier racing through Rome after the Vatican explodes. Justin (also Hawke) is J.J.’s brother, imprisoned for terrorism, states, “You think I am your enemy…your enemy won’t be gone when you kill me.”
Zeros and Ones had its world premiere at the 74th Locarno Film Festival in August 2021. Its dark isolated scenes of this celebrated city, set in a pandemic, with political stakes as dangerous as the virus itself, will feel familiar to audiences eager to see how the movie ends. “The world is watching what happens here,” the imprisoned brother of J.J. states. We assume the world will be waiting to watch Zeroes and Ones on November 19.
