‘The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers’ Renewed for a Second Season

Disney

After a winning first season, Disney has announced that The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers will be renewed for season two on their streaming service Disney+. The wholesome family series continues the story that started with the original Mighty Ducks trilogy in the ’90s. Emilio Estevez reprises his role as Gordon Bombay, the original coach of the Ducks, alongside Lauren Graham and Brady Noon to lead the show into the modern-day.

The first season followed the theme of the original movies by showing the story of an underdog team of misfits on their journey to win. This time around the beloved Mighty Ducks have grown to become the powerhouse team with all the money behind them that they once battled against. Evan Morrow, played by Noon, is suddenly cut from the team and enlists his mom, played by Graham, to start their own team. The newly created No Bothers set off to challenge the “win at all costs” culture that has taken over youth sports. With the help of Bombay, they create a team of underdogs played by Maxwell Simkins, Swayam Bhatia, Luke Islam, Kiefer O’Reilly, Taegen Burns, Bella Higginbotham, and DJ Watts that learn hockey can be played just for the love of the game.

Production on the second season is scheduled to begin in 2022 with executive producer Steve Brill who created the original films. Returning for the second season as showrunners and executive producers will be Cathy Yuspa and Josh Goldsmith. Joining them as producers will be Brillstein Entertainment Partner’s, George Heller and Brad Petrigala. Make sure you stay updated on all the updates by following Nerds and Beyond.
