Academy Award-winning actress Marlee Matlin will return to the screen once more! She is currently developing a workplace comedy for NBC that revolves around sign language interpreters.

Joining her is writer Ben Shelton, who will also direct the unnamed pilot, and Aaron Kaplan, who will serve as executive producer. Matlin herself will also be an executive producer for the show. Her interpreter, Jack Jason, will be an executive producer as well.

Matlin will play DJ, the manager of the sign language interpreter agency based out of Los Angeles. This new show is only one of Marlee’s many upcoming projects. Her new movie CODA premieres on Apple TV on August 13. Other projects are titled Silent Voice, Silent Knights, and Run. Matlin is known for her role in Children of a Lesser God, which she won an Academy Award for at the age of 21.

Shelton served as a writer and director for The Daly Show, Impress Me, and The Flipside. He is also known for directing Netflix’s Candy Jar as well.

Kaplan’s production company, Kapital Entertaiment, produced shows such as Santa Clarita Diet, A Million Little Things, American Housewife, Merry Happy Whatever, The Neighborhood, and The Unicorn.

Production has not yet started on the new NBC show.
