WATCH: ‘Ted Lasso’ Characters Announce U.S. Soccer Women’s National Team Olympic Roster

Today, the official Olympic roster for the U.S. Soccer Women’s National Team was revealed — with a little twist. None other than AFC Richmond coaches Ted Lasso and Coach Beard from Apple TV+’s Ted Lasso gave the official announcement! Check out the video below!

Ted Lasso stars Jason Sudeikis, an American college football coach from Kansas who’s hired along with his ever-faithful partner-in-crime Coach Beard (Brendan Hunt) to coach AFC Richmond, a professional soccer team in England, with literally zero experience coaching soccer. Equal parts entertaining, heartwarming, and downright funny, Ted Lasso is a story about optimism, mentorship, found family, perseverance, and the power of believing.

While we can’t help but hope the USWNT fares better than AFC Richmond (the comeback is coming!) has been this Olympic season, it was truly a delight to get such a great introduction going into Tokyo. One could say this roster “smells like potential.” Ted Lasso returns to Apple TV+ for its second season on July 23, so stay tuned for more news.
