A huge source of fun and intrigue of WandaVision has been trying to decipher the random ads that have popped up throughout the series. Episode 1 referenced Stark Industries, episode 2 Strucker and HYDRA, episode 5 had Lagos … all of these large sources of trauma for Wanda in her life. Episode 6 was more cryptic, leaning towards hinting at a Faustian deal (with Mephisto?) and now, episode 7 comes with huge implications for the MCU’s future.
Nexus is an anti-depressant meant to anchor someone to back reality and moving on with your life, something we expect Wanda will have to do here very soon with only two episodes in the series left. And when they say anchor someone back to reality, they quite literally mean Wanda is the anchor to this reality. And also yes, Reality 616 does revolve around her.
Nexus Beings in the Marvel Universe, with Wanda being the Nexus for Reality 616 (Earth as we know it), are keystones of the Multiverse and are crucial to its existence. They are the beings that hold the very Multiverse together and are supervised by an organization we’ll be seeing more of in an upcoming Marvel series … the Time Variance Authority (coming in Loki).
Wanda indeed has the powers as a Nexus Being to warp all of reality, so don’t piss her off.
We knew the Multiverse was coming, and now we can assume that the MCU will be keeping Wanda’s place as Nexus for the Earth we’ve known for the entirety of the MCU so far. How much more the Multiverse comes in to play in the series is still to be seen (Pietro …), but we know her next appearance in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness just added a huge new factor.
The first 7 episodes of WandaVision are currently streaming on Disney+.
