Get ready to step into the world of Apple TV+’s For All Mankind in a new augmented reality experience that brings the show right into the comfort of your home.

“For All Mankind: Time Capsule” is a new app that allows users to immerse themselves in the alternate history world of For All Mankind. This new experience brings some of the technological advances present in the show into a clearer light, allowing users to gain the full effect they’re unable to solely through the TV series.

In the app, users will see and interact with each object, every one telling its own story. Read D-mail messages on an Apple II between Danny and his friend Kelly that contain life-changing secrets. Use the same computer to play “Crater Quest.” Users can also find a mix-tape that shares the origin story of young love. Devices with a LiDAR scanner — including iPhone 12 Pro, iPhone 12 Pro Max, and iPad Pro — will allow users to use a slide projector showing photos of Danny and family photos of the Stevens, projected directly onto your wall space of choice. Other seemingly mundane objects will also shed light on important events and what’s to come in season 2.

About the game, Ron Moore, creator and executive producer of For All Mankind, said:

“I was intrigued from the very beginning at the idea that we could use AR to immerse the audience in the alternate history aspect of the series, explaining and illustrating some of the historical events and technological advances that are implied in the show but which we never had a chance to fully present. Using this technology allows the audience to immerse themselves into the series by interacting with objects, people and media in an impactful and meaningful way that will bring them even closer to world we’ve created.”

Set in an alternate 1969, For All Mankind explores what the world would be like if the global space race never ended — one where the Soviet Union made it to the moon before the United States. The series was created by Ronald D. Moore, Ben Nedivi, and Matt Wolpert. All of season 1 is available to watch on Apple TV+, with season 2 arriving globally on Friday, February 19, releasing episodes weekly.

“For All Mankind: Time Capsule” is available for download now in the App Store.
