Another round of COVID related film release delays is upon us, with Sony leading the charge by pushing their comic book thriller Morbius back almost seven months. The Jared Leto lead film has already been pushed back multiple times, and the newest delay pushes it back to October 8, 2021.

Directed by Daniel Espinosa and written by Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless, Morbius stars Jared Leto in the title role alongside an impressive cast including Matt Smith, Jared Harris, and Tyrese Gibson. The film centers around the Marvel Comics character Michael Morbius, a biochemist who becomes a vampire after attempting to cure himself of a rare blood disease. By focusing on this Spider-Man foe/anti-hero, Morbius aims to create an anti-hero film along the lines of their 2018 hit Venom. The 2018 film was a surprise hit for Sony and the goal with Morbius film, and the eventual Venom sequel, is to create their own comic book film universe focusing on the characters they hold the rights to. Unfortunately with the delays, fans have to wait quite some time to see this brought to life.
