The inaugural Critics Choice Super Awards, a special event honoring the most popular, fan-obsessed genres across both television and movies — including superhero, sci-fi/fantasy, horror, action, and animation — are quickly approaching. Hosted by Kevin Smith and Dani Fernandez, this remote presentation of the Super Awards will air on The CW on Sunday, January 10, 2021 at 8 p.m. EST.
The list of nominees was announced this morning, and it includes three nominations for Dave Franco’s directorial debut The Rental!
The Rental follows the story of two couples that embark on what’s meant to be a wonderful weekend getaway at a beautiful oceanside rental home. However, their plans for a fun and carefree trip are quickly thrown off kilter as they begin to suspect that the house’s strange-mannered host is spying on them. On top of that, well-kept secrets between friends begin to spill out, threatening to send them all over the edge. Check out our review of this unnerving thriller here.
The Rental received nominations in the following categories:
Best Horror Movie
Best Actor in a Horror Movie – Dan Stevens
Best Actress in a Horror Movie – Sheila Vand
#TheRental wasn't just the horror hit of the summer – it also racked up three #CriticsChoiceSuperAwards noms today: Best Horror Movie, Best Actress – Horror Movie (Sheila Vand), and Best Actor – Horror Movie (@thatdanstevens)!
