Daisy Edgar-Jones Will Lead Adaptation of ‘Where The Crawdads Sing’

Fresh off her starring role in Hulu’s Emmy nominated Normal People, Daisy Edgar-Jones has landed another big film. She will play the lead role of Kya in the film adaptation of the bestselling novel Where The Crawdads Sing. The film will be produced by Reese Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine production company alongside 3000 Pictures. The synopsis of the novel promises a dramatic and moving mystery:

For years, rumors of the “Marsh Girl” have haunted Barkley Cove, a quiet town on the North Carolina coast. So in late 1969, when handsome Chase Andrews is found dead, the locals immediately suspect Kya Clark, the so-called Marsh Girl. But Kya is not what they say. Sensitive and intelligent, she has survived for years alone in the marsh that she calls home, finding friends in the gulls and lessons in the sand. Then the time comes when she yearns to be touched and loved. When two young men from town become intrigued by her wild beauty, Kya opens herself to a new life–until the unthinkable happens.

Edgar-Jones also signed on to star in the thriller Fresh and recently wrapped shooting on the second season of War of the Worlds. She was recently named a “Star of Tomorrow” by Screen International.
