Dominion alum, Shivaani Ghai has been cast in a reoccurring role for the CW’s hit superhero show Batwoman. Ghai will be playing Safiyah Sohail, a dark and dangerous figure from Alice’s (Rachel Skarsten) past. Safiyah is the leader of a small community on the island of Coryana. In the DC comics, Safiyah is written as one of Kate Kane’s former lovers. However, showrunners are straying away from the comic books and putting a twist of their own on the character. While Safiyah was never seen on screen in Batwoman’s first season, there had been many references for her, making Safiyah a well-known figure in Gotham City.

Ghai will be joining season two of Batwoman along with new series lead Javicia Leslie, who will be playing Ryan Wilder, Gotham Cities’ new Batwoman, replacing Ruby Roses Kate Kane.

Batwoman will return in January for season two on the CW.
