Singer/songwriter Cobi is back again with a new single, on the heels of releasing a song back in November. His latest single is titled “No Way Out,” and it’s his most personal song to date.

In social media posts leading up to the release of the song, Cobi described it as a song “… about the heavy burden of losing loved ones, dreams getting crushed, and finding yourself down a dark road.” And he conveys exactly that in “No Way Out.”

Musically, the song thrives on minimal instrumentation, with just a piano and his voice creating a feeling of isolation and adding a certain heaviness to the song. You can almost literally feel the music trying to place its entire weight on your shoulders. Lyrically, however, the song gives a different feeling, and one that you will undoubtedly feel deep within you. Along with Cobi’s description of the song, it’s also enunciates the loneliness, regret, and the feeling of being lost and like “so much of [your] life is out of control” that accompany loss, crushed dreams, and dark times.

It’s difficult to put into words exactly how I felt listening to this song, though I tried. I’m a big fan of Cobi’s music and his talent, but I really am in awe of this new song. It’s so raw and honest and emotional, and very few songs are able to make me respond the way I did to this song. Every time he’s released music, I’ve cited whatever the new song or EP is as my favorite. But this one is it, folks. This is the song that immediately gets mentioned when someone asks, “So. What’s your favorite song?”

“No Way Out” is available now on iTunes, Spotify, SoundCloud, YouTube, Apple Music, and Google Play Music, where you also can find the rest of his music. Follow Cobi on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook for more updates about his current and upcoming music. Listen to “No Way Out” below.
