On September 13, the red carpets rolled out for the debut of Halloween Horror Nights in Universal City, CA. In attendance at the frightful event was filmmaker Jordan Peele (Us), Evan Alex (Us), Madison Curry (Us), Dan Aykroyd (Ghostbusters), Ivan Reitman (National Lampoon’s Animal House), Greg Nicotero (The Walking Dead), Eli Roth (Haunt), Rob Zombie (House of a 1000 Corpses), Seth Green (Family Guy), Kelly Osbourne, SLASH, and many more.

There was a special panel, called “Behind the Screams,” which was led by the Halloween Horror Nights executive producer John Murdy. It focused on the many talented filmmakers and musicians that have collaborated with Universal Studios on the event over the years. Among the featured collaborators was filmmaker Eli Roth, director and producer Greg Nicotero, and musician SLASH.

Along with returning mazes, there are some chilling additions that are sure to have the hair on your arms standing in fear. This year there will be more mazes than any of the previous years. The movie and TV themes are sure to make guests scream in terror. Back this year, by popular demand, is the award-winning hip-hop dance crew Jabbawockeez, with a performance created specifically for Halloween Horror Nights. There will be mazes built on the twisted films Us, Ghostbusters, Killer Klowns from Outer Space, Frankenstein Meets the Wolf Man, House of 1000 Corpses, and Holidayz in Hell. Guests can also choose to go through Cures of Pandora’s Box, which is based on Greek mythology. With an event like this, zombies and the supernatural cannot be left out, so be prepared for The Walking Dead maze and the Stranger Things maze, which is based on seasons two and three.

Halloween Horror Nights opens at Universal Studios Hollywood for select nights from September 13 – November 3. The event is sure to sell out fast, so make sure you purchase your tickets early! You can find all the dates, other information about the event, and buy tickets on their website.
