Nerds and Beyond is starting a new interactive Book Club series. At the beginning of each month, we will post an article about a book we love. Once it is posted, we will email participants discussion questions to answer and send back to us to be posted in an article at the end of each month. Our first book will be posted on July 1, so be sure to check out the book and read along with us! We are also excited to say that our Book Club series will have Special Edition articles, such as author interviews, in addition to our monthly posts!
If you would like to participate in our Book Club, send an email to email@example.com with “Book Club” in the subject line.
Here’s a list of some of the books we’ll be reading over the next few months:
I Wish You All the Best by Mason Deaver
This heartbreaking yet joyous and hopeful YA novel celebrates “life, friendship, and love” as it tells the story of Ben, a non-binary high school student, and how their life changes after they come out to their parents.
Girl Mans Up by M-E Girard
This YA novel tackles gender identity, respect, and expectations from those around you. The story follows Pen, a teenager who is not a girly-girl and not a tomboy; she just wants to be herself. A girl who likes girls and wants to be one of the guys, but everyone around her expects her to be someone else, someone she isn’t.
More Happy Than Not by Adam Silvera
Silvera’s debut YA novel follows 16-year-old Aaron Soto on a profound, emotional journey as he grapples with the idea of happiness and accepting himself.
Magonia and Aerie by Maria Dahvana Headley
Headley’s debut fantasy YA novel (and it’s sequel Aerie) tells the story of Aza Ray Boyle. Teenage Aza has suffered from a chronic and mysterious lung disease her entire life that makes her feel like she is drowning in thin air. When she spots a ship flying through the sky, her family thinks she’s hallucinating as a side effect of her new medication, but really she’s discovered a hidden world, and one she might be able to finally thrive in.
