Join the Wizarding World in ‘Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery’ Mobile Game

“We are pleased to inform you that you have been accepted to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry,” are 18 words every Harry Potter fan longs to hear and their wait is finally over. A new mobile game presented by Jam City, Inc. and Portkey Games is set to take wizarding world fans by storm this spring.

Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery invites players into the wizarding world before Harry Potter and his famous battles with Voldemort. Players will receive their long awaited letters, by owl of course, and take up their place at the prestigious Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. There are some familiar faces in the mobile game including first-year Nymphadora Tonks, Groundskeeper Rubeus Hagrid, and the ever-surly Professor Severus Snape.

Longtime Potter fan and proud Hufflepuff Julie Griffin tested a demo of the game available at the recent Universal Studios ‘A Celebration of Harry Potter 2018’ in Orlando. When asked about the experience Julie said:

“For an app, I thought the graphics were amazing! It reminded me of the same level as a Wii game. I loved the demo! It takes you through your own storyline, you get to create and customize your character and you get to choose your house. As a Harry Potter fan I was extremely stressed about how they were going to do the sorting, but they let you choose, so that was great!”

As a Hogwarts student, players will take lessons, explore the castle, and make new friends, or enemies, with other users all while writing their own Hogwarts story. Julie felt this experience was a great feature, “What stood out to me is that you get to respond and make choices throughout the game. So, if you choose to answer something one way as opposed to the other option presented, your character and your story will take a different path than if you had chosen the opposite response. That is very interesting to me. I was only able to play for a short amount of time, but I expect great things from this app!”

Though users are playing prior to Harry Potter’s arrival at Hogwarts, there will be plenty of mischief and Potter like adventures for gamers. Fans can expect an official, true to the books Hogwarts experience. Portkey Games is a new label “dedicated to creating experiences inspired by the magic and adventure of J.K. Rowling’s wizarding world” according to their site. The game will be available on iOS and Android devices via the Apple App Store and Google Play.

While there is no official release date as of yet, it is clear that this new interactive mobile game is much anticipated by many in the Harry Potter fandom.
