Supernatural Season 13: Setting Up for Wayward

Share:

Supernatural kicked off its thirteenth season on October 12th and just two episodes in, this may be one of the strongest season openings we’ve seen on the show in a while. And there’s still plenty more to come.

The first episode of course picked up right where we left off at the end of season 12, at Jimmy Novak’s lake cabin.
Castiel is dead. Kelly is dead. Mary Winchester and Lucifer have been sucked into some alternate universe/apocalypse world, and Sam and Dean are now left alone with Lucifer’s Nephilim son Jack.

Jack (Alexander Calvert) is going to prove to be a very interesting – and powerful – character this season. Fans already love him. The brothers? Not so much. Sam sees Jack as a tool to get their mother back and believes that even though he is Lucifer’s son there is a chance he won’t be much like is biological father. Meanwhile Dean only sees him as another monster that it is his duty to take out. Especially because they don’t know yet how powerful he is.

We are also starting to see the return of some characters from previous seasons. In episode two both the archangel Michael and the prophet Donatello have returned.

This week the third episode of the season is set to air – Patience.

Not only is Castiel set to return this episode – though in what capacity we aren’t yet sure – we are also seeing the return of a character we haven’t seen since season one; Missouri Moseley. Patience – Clark Backo – seems to have inherited her grandmother’s psychic abilities. Sheriff Jody Mills (Kim Rhodes) will also be in this episode.

Backo and Rhodes are both set to feature in the upcoming spin off Wayward Sisters so fans are excited and eager to meet this new character and see what she will bring to the show along with the characters like Jody, Donna, Clair and Alex who have all been in previous seasons. The pilot for Wayward Sisters is currently filming.

We asked fans on Twitter what they were most looking forward to about Thursday night’s episode and their hopes for the upcoming spin off.

The pilot is set to air later in the season, so be sure to tune in as we will have more updates the closer it gets!
