‘Dexter’ Revival Adds John Lithgow

0

The upcoming Dexter revival has added another cast member, and he’s one viewers are quite familiar with — John Lithgow aka the Trinity Killer. Deadline was first to report.

Lithgow is no stranger to Dexter, having portrayed Arthur Mitchell/the Trinity Killer in season 4 as the main baddie. By the end of the season, Dexter took care of Trinity once and… maybe not for all. Though details are being kept tightly under wraps, according to Deadline, showrunner Clyde Phillips has confirmed that Arthur Mitchell will return in a way that fits into the larger universe of the show.

The revival is set to be a 10-episode limited run. It will see the return of Dexter Morgan (now under the persona Jim Lindsay), who is now living in a town called Iron Lake in upstate New York.

Filming is currently underway, and the new season is scheduled to premiere on Showtime in Fall 2021. Find all our coverage on the revival here, and stay tuned for more details. Watch the original eight seasons now on Amazon Prime Video and Showtime.

Alder welcomes the Unit to War College in clip two with a moving speech about always seeking the truth, remaining fearless, and ensuring they wield their power with total control. M and another new face, Gregorio (Praneet Akilla), a male witch from the upper echelons of military witch society, look on as Adler speaks with the girls. We know that all three can be feisty, none more so than Raelle, so it’ll be interesting to see their immediate reactions to Alder’s little talk as well as how they settle into life at War College.

While we wait to see what next week will bring, check out the brand new stills for “Abomination” here as well as the previously released sneak peeks here and here. Episode 2 will air Tuesday, June 29 on Freeform.

‘Foundation’: Premiere Date and New Trailer for Apple TV+ Sci-Fi Series

A premiere date has finally been announced for Apple TV+’s Foundation! The 10-episode sci-fi series will land on the streaming service in just a few month’s time on September 24.

Foundation, which is based on the award-winning novels by Isaac Asimov, is a monumental journey that chronicles the stories of four crucial individuals transcending space and time as they overcome deadly crises, shifting loyalties and complicated relationships that will ultimately determine the fate of humanity.

When revolutionary Dr. Hari Seldon predicts the impending fall of the Empire, he and a band of loyal followers venture to the far reaches of the galaxy to establish The Foundation in an attempt to rebuild and preserve the future of civilization. Enraged by Hari’s claims, the ruling Cleons — a long line of emperor clones — fear their grasp on the galaxy may be weakening as they’re forced to reckon with the potential reality of losing their legacy forever.

Foundation stars Jared Harris as Hari Seldon, Lee Pace as Brother Day, Lou Llobell as Gaal Dornick, Leah Harvey as Salvor Hardin, Laura Birn as Eto Demerzel, Cassian Bilton as Brother Dawn, Terrence Mann as Brother Dusk, Alfred Enoch and more.

A new trailer for the series was also released today. Watch it below.

This marks the first-ever on-screen adaptation of Asimov’s series. David S. Goyer (Batman Begins, Man of Steel) serves as showrunner and executive producer.

Foundation is produced for Apple by Skydance Television. Robyn Asimov, Josh Friedman, Cameron Welsh, David Ellison, Dana Goldberg and Bill Bost also serve as executive producers.

The first three episodes of Foundation — the sci-fi saga that started it all — will land exclusively on Apple TV+ on September 24. New episodes will then drop every Friday on a weekly basis.

Pride Month Spotlight: Robin Buckley From ‘Stranger Things’

Welcome to the 28th article of our 2021 Pride Month Series! Each day in the month of June, we will be highlighting a different member of the LGBTQ+ community who we think is a great example of representation and dynamic characterization. We will focus on fictional characters, celebrities, and activists alike — the positive voices within the LGBTQ+ community and in mainstream media.

Today we’ll be talking about one of last season’s additions to Stranger Things, Robin Buckley. To start, Robin is a sassy and sarcastic character who, at the beginning of the season, works at Scoops Ahoy with Steve. When she’s not filling up cones, she trades in her scooper for a dry erase board that she records Steve’s dating wins and losses on. You know, for research purposes.

While she’s paired up with Steve for most of the season he begins developing feelings for her. However, on the totally sanitary floor of the Starcourt Mall bathrooms, they share a really important conversation. Steve tries to confess his feelings to her, and she clearly doesn’t want to hurt his feelings. They’ve become close as friends after all, but she can’t lead him on. So out loud for the first time, she comes out as lesbian. She hated Steve because Tammy had a crush on him, not her. Steve doesn’t quite understand at first, but once he does, he doesn’t have any reservations about Robin or her sexuality, he simply adds a quip about Tammy and keeps the conversation moving.

In an interview with Variety, Maya Hawke discussed how she felt about playing such a widely received and loved character in the growing Stranger Things universe.

“If I can hope for anything it’s that maybe some people fell in love with Robin and that helped them fall in love with girls who love girls and boys who love boys.”

Maya Hawke

Because Robin was a new character on the scene and she came out at the end of last season, we’ll have to wait until season 4 to see if she makes any progress in the dating world. After the new reveal that four new characters will be joining season 4, fans began speculating who Robin may end up with. There’s no way to know for certain if and who Robin will end up with romantically, but seeing Netflix and the Stranger Things crew make the decision to add an openly out character in one of the biggest cultural phenomena of this generation, speaks volumes. As they broadcast their show to small screens all over the globe, fans of all ages — out or not, questioning — it doesn’t matter. Fans of all backgrounds see themselves in Robin and can find whatever solace they need through her in their own exploration.

Stay tuned for our next Pride Month spotlight tomorrow.

‘Motherland: Fort Salem’: The Unit Discuss War College in New Season 2, Episode 2 Clip

0

The season two premiere of Motherland: Fort Salem was full of jaw-dropping moments and we’re dying to see what awaits our favorite witches in episode 2, “Abomination.” Freeform has dropped a second sneak peek of the upcoming episode that shows Raelle, Abigail, and Tally at their first day of War College! The synopsis for “Abomination” reads as follows:

The Unit begins War College, introducing them to their Coven and new challenges. Anacostia and Scylla find themselves unlikely partners in a dangerous mission. Tally mentors a new recruit.

Check out the new clip below!

In this new clip, the Unit is preparing to meet their Coven. As they chat, Tally grabs her medal and states their coven name as Sekhmet. An Egyptian warrior goddess, Sekhmet is known in Egyptian mythology as both a warrior goddess and goddess of healing. The daughter of the sun god, Ra, Sekhmet is depicted most often as a lioness. Whether the name will come to have any meaning or foreshadowing for how the Coven will train or abilities they might discover will be an interesting element to watch. This clip also gives a first look at new cast member Ess Hödlmoser as M. M is a non-binary second year soldier though clearly Raelle isn’t intimidated by their stare or their status as a second year. If there are whispers about their abilities, the Unit will have to prove themselves quickly if they want to gain the respect of their fellow soldiers.

Freeform also released another sneak peek of Scylla and Anocostia having a face to face that you can watch here and also check out the new stills for “Abomination” here. Episode 2 will air Tuesday, June 29 on Freeform.

‘Dynasty’ Recap: Season 4, Episode 8 “Your Sick and Self-Serving Vendetta”

In this week’s episode of Dynasty, Fallon comes in contact with an old school friend, Blake and Dominique’s team-up proves a success, and Culhane and Jeff Read on to find out what happens in “Your Sick and Self Serving Vendetta.”

Blake is filling Fallon in on the latest when it comes to Fallon Unlimited across the pond. Their appeal to have the original land permits was denied. Apparently, the Scotland Heritage Foundation filed their claim when the sale went through. They believe the rocks on site is evidence of old castle ruins. Fallon reads over the paperwork and discovers that one of the co-sponsors is someone she went to school with. She’ll get him to see that this is all a giant misunderstanding.

Sam and Kirby are meeting for brunch and Sam apologizes for Ryan’s absence. He’s busy, but Kirby understands. The one benefit to him being busy, though, is Sam has more time to focus on the hotel. He has a meeting with potential partners to expand the hotel. Fletcher shows up and Sam looks less than thrilled but nonetheless acts in a professional manner.

Culhane and Jeff are catching up on what happened while Jeff was away. Culhane wants to mull things over with Mia and Jeff says he’s on a similar mission — he’s done neglecting important relationships.

Meanwhile back at La Mirage, Blake and Dominique are meeting once again as part of their master plan to trick and take down Alexis. She believes there are diamonds under the manor, so she’ll use any amount of money to make sure they are uncovered. Blake hands over a mysterious bag that he says contains an offer she can’t refuse. Dominique peeks inside of it and says she wants to up the stakes.

Cristal is waiting for the results of a pregnancy test when she gets a text from Blake who says he can’t make lunch. The results come through and according to the test, she is indeed not pregnant.

Fallon is at Collin’s workplace to get down to business. She wants him to convince them it’s all a misunderstanding but he could care less about the castle. He wants what she stole from him, the land. When they went to Warton together Fallon had him expelled so she could finish first in the class, so this is his way of getting back at her.

By the way, for the record, you were never my favorite baritone. Because just like your cheating schemes, you always fall flat.

Fallon Carrington

At the manor, Alexis is down below wondering where the crew is that should be mining the diamonds. Dominique rushes in claiming that Blake filed a lawsuit demanding half of the mineral rights.

Jeff is at Mia’s workplace apologizing and admitting his wrongs. Just then Culhane interrupts with a gift for Mia. Jeff and Culhane are clearly confused as to what it happening, but she sends Jeff on his way. Culhane on the other hand, sticks around to help.

At the hotel, Sam asks Fletcher to stay behind so they can discuss the “elephant in the hotel.” Fletcher says he and his husband finalized their divorce and he took the job to be closer to Sam. They had a once in a life time love affair and it seems he doesn’t want to let it slip away again.

Collin drops by Fallon Unlimited when he finds out construction on his properties was halted because of code violations. He sinks his offer to 20 percent, and informs her that the hearing moved back so she has time to prepare. She won’t be able to do business with anyone, however.

Sam and Kirby are having breakfast at the manor. He tells her all about the Fletcher situation. He did let him in on the fact he is seeing someone, Ryan. Sam feels like he’s making Ryan his priority but he doesn’t feel the same in return.

Fallon has done an all nighter and Blake isn’t that impressed. He still believes they need to sell, more so now that he knows Collin is an heir to a very powerful media conglomerate. Fallon says he’d never give in if it was his company, but Blake says it’s just about cutting losses at this point.

Dominique is busy supergluing the door frame when Alexis and Adam make their way through the manor. She quickly shuts the door behind her as the two come into the room. Adam wants to propose to Kirby but Alexis thinks that’s a bad idea, but Adam wasn’t asking for her permission. He wants a diamond and thought it would be a nice way to include his mom.

Culhane and Jeff smooth things over and Culhane agrees to step aside, neither of them want a girl to get in the middle of their friendship. Culhane looks a little heartbroken, but he wants to be a good friend.

Wilford Harewood/The CW

Fallon agrees to sell the land to Collin for the original agreed upon price. She hands him a bottle as a showing of good faith and as he leaves the room to get the papers drafted, she takes a sneaky photo of his desk.

Culhane meets with Mia who has decided to open his gift to her without him. It’s an art print of “One City, One Voice” that was his fathers and he thought she’d want it. It’s also why he wants to help her out with the event.

Dominique and Blake are at the manor and aren’t sure where to go next because Alexis wont budge. However, Dominique thinks she has the perfect plan, and takes a sledgehammer to the floor to destroy it.

Fallon and Liam are cross checking Collin’s list with his calendar schedule. They find a match and prepare to stake out and find out what he’s really up to.

Cristal is at the doctor who says she really might be pregnant after all, they’re going to need to run blood tests to be sure. Cristal looks concerned. At the manor, Alexis discovers the “foundation crumbling” (thanks Dominique and Blake), Adam says she’s the captain of the ship so she can handle it and Alexis snaps back with a not for long.

Meanwhile, Fallon and Liam are in full stake out mode. As it turns out, he’s not meeting with the state attorney general at all — he’s meeting with his secretary. Liam snaps a few blackmail photos so they don’t miss their opportunity.

Culhane offers to close up shop for Mia who instead challenges him to a little round of golf. She asks for his help and makes a move on him, which he returns. Alexis gives Blake the manor back, not without her conditions all of which he agrees to.

Sam wakes up to a bunch of missed calls from Ryan, but he’s currently pre-occupied with Fletcher, who is in the bed next to him.

Collin has everything ready for Fallon to sign who instead throws one last thing at the wall to hope it sticks. She conceded, and the land is now a designated land mark. However, as long as she agrees to restoration and leaves a 500 foot radius around the campus, she can build whatever she wants.

Culhane brings Mia a coffee and says he doesn’t want to hurt Jeff so he wants to know if he should be the one to tell him or if she should. However, Mia has no intention on choosing, she wants to date both of them. Culhane is clearly taken aback.

Blake is back at the manor. Dominique trades in her half of the manor for the loft, she wants to convert it to a space to honor her mother and her fashion dreams. Blake agrees. Alexis comes strolling in and Blake can’t help but laugh. He tells her that not only did she trade the manor, there are no diamonds on the property, so she’s walking away with nothing.

Adam is officially the new chief of staff at the hospital. Cristal is there, upset, and he asks what happened. She tells him she thought she was pregnant, but after a few tests it came back that she has a growth pressing on a nerve. She has a brain tumor. Adam looks like he’s at a loss for words.

Alexis is heated when she finds Dominique in the mines. They begin to fight and eventually find themselves stuck inside when the rocks come crashing down on them.

Dynasty airs Friday nights at 9 p.m. ET on The CW. Episodes stream next day on the CW app and cwtv.com. Check out our Pride Month Spotlight on Sam here!

Pride Month Spotlight: Model Cara Delevingne

Welcome to the 27th installment of our 2021 Pride Month Series! Each day in the month of June, we will be highlighting a different member of the LGBTQIA+ community who we think is a great example of representation and dynamic characterization. We will focus on fictional characters, celebrities, and activists alike — the positive voices within the LGBTQIA+ community and in mainstream media.

Wrecking balls kaleidoscopic and mischievous Gods Bi-iconing; athletes tackling history and lingerie rebrand posting; these are just a few of my absolutely favorite 2021 pride things! Okay, to half-turn on a bunch of moments that already has us fan-girlishly flailing, today’s spotlight will photogenically dip right back into the modeling industry glow-up. As not only does cute British slang such as “bollocks” and “trollied” come out of her mouth in a Hammersmith, London accent (apparently, according to Reddit, it rivals a “softcore cockney”), but through peeping into her Louis Vuitton handbag, she’s been trademarking motley vibrant angel wings as a seasonal must-have for years!

Cara Delevingne (/dElEvEEn/): dogmatic Leo, triple threat enchantress. When filling out some proof of authenticity form, she will most definitely whip out a red pen matching her still pristine after 24-hours lipstick to tick the genderfluid box. Even more so, she proudly declared to Josh Smith, @joshsmithhosts on Instagram and celebrity interviewer on Make It Reign: The Podcast:

“The way I define myself still changes all the time, whether it’s pansexual, bisexual – I don’t really know. It’s like a pendulum swinging.”

It hasn’t always been in this way. In fact, her youth spent under the lavish roof of parents Charles and Pandora, a property developer and socialite respectively, was much akin to hitting the Spotify loop button on July 4 go-er Taylor Swift’s folkloric tune “seven” when curating the ultimate autobiographical playlist. She presumably thought she had found the Saturn to her moon when aged 11. It wasn’t quite the brisk setting of a fairytale vineyard overlooking a tea party for orphaned beasties, rather a harp affair as she sat as a self-acclaimed muse to her pigtailed artist. While the gentle sweep of music overcame her, there would soon be one less of a follower. In true sinless style, the gossipy notification fled around the playground that the girl in question would be sharing her rollup with a newly acquired friend.

However, a license to legally swipe the cork-topper 18th birthday bubbly treat gels well with a forlorn tale as the milestone year was spent coasting into the coming and going tides of mature romance. After Delevingne’s first taking down of the iPhone-officially-dating-announcer-wallpaper, she stormed her house’s stairs to admit she was heartbroken; it wasn’t simple. No, it was foreshadowed by the anxiously ridden pride love bite all LGBTQ+ teenagers feel when either firstly coming out or, in her case, opening up about the relationship at all. Yet, she admitted to Variety:

“And I remember one day, I was so upset because I was heartbroken. And my dad was like, ‘You never talk to me.’ And I screamed at him, ‘I’m f—ing heartbroken.’ I ran downstairs. I remember he gave me a hug, and I started crying so much. I said, ‘She broke my heart.’ I thought at the moment, he might kick me out. I was that scared; I was honestly terrified. And he was like, ‘She isn’t worth the energy. You deserve to be loved.’ He was so sweet, I could cry about it right now.”

These days, her smitten with the lens flair is either smizing into a 4K studio camera wheeled by a volunteer for The Trevor Project’s annual gala as she received the 2019 Hero Award or as ambassador to sports brand Puma. Together, she helped assist a $1 million partnership between both organizations. Spun into brazen block letters categorically placed under fashion, Paper magazine spelled out “Cara Delevingne Is Finally Free”:

“So to be proud is to really be able to feel free to shout from the rooftop, ‘This is who I am, take it or leave it. I love myself.’ And there is nothing anyone can do about it. I think that’s truly inspirational and truly something I wish I had as a teenager, but how inspired I am by people and teenagers and young people who can do that.”

In this brand new clip of “Abomination,” Scylla confronts Anacostia about the fetch we saw in episode one. Anacostia admits she’s been spying on Scylla for weeks and is curious as to her motives for infiltrating the movement. She is also still holding on to hope that Scylla can be redeemed, the remorse is written all over Scylla’s face, according to Anacostia. We know from season 2 teasers that the Spree and the military will have to team up if they want to defeat the Camarilla. This might be the beginning of a redemption arc for Scylla, and perhaps that arc will lead her back into Raelle’s path.
