‘Outlander’: New Danger Awaits in Season 6 Trailer

0

We’re less than two months away from the long-awaited premiere of the sixth season of STARZ’s hit fantasy drama series Outlander, and the official trailer has just been released!

Season 6 of Outlander will open with an extended episode, which will pick back up very shortly after the traumatizing events that occurred at the end of the fifth season. The last time that audiences saw Claire (Caitriona Balfe) and Jamie (Sam Heughan), Claire had just returned to Fraser’s Ridge after her violent encounter with Lionel Brown and his men. Now, with the threat of the Revolutionary War looming over the ridge, the pair must decide what is best for their family.

Watch the trailer below.

Establishing a home in the New World is by no means an easy task, particularly in the wild backcountry of North Carolina — and perhaps most significantly — during a period of dramatic political upheaval. The Frasers strive to maintain peace and flourish within a society which – as Claire knows all too well — is unwittingly marching towards Revolution. Against this backdrop, which heralds the birth of the new American nation, Claire and Jamie have built a home together at Fraser’s Ridge. They must now defend this home — established on land granted to them by the Crown — not only from external forces, but also from the increasing strife and conflict in the community within their care. For the Frasers and their immediate family, “home” is more than simply a site in which they live, it is the place where they are laying the foundations for the rest of their lives. If Season 4 asked “What is home?” and Season 5 asked, “What are you willing to do to protect your home?” then Season 6 explores what happens when there is disharmony and division among the inhabitants of the home you’ve created: when you become an outsider, or an ‘outlander,’ so to speak, marginalized and rejected in your own home.”

The series also stars Duncan Lacroix, Sophie Skelton, Richard Rankin, César Domboy, Lauren Lyle, John Bell, and more.

Outlander is adapted from Diana Gabaldon’s international best-selling book series, and season 6 is based on the book A Breath of Snow and Ashes. The show has already been renewed for a seventh season, as confirmed last March.

Season 6 of Outlander will premiere across all STARZ platforms on Sunday, March 6 at 9 p.m. ET/PT in the U.S. and day and date in the UK for the first time on STARZPLAY.

‘Hawkeye’ Star Fra Fee Joins Cast of ‘Beauty and the Beast’ Prequel Series

Last year, as fans worldwide celebrated the 30th anniversary of the 1991 classic film Beauty and the Beast, Disney+ announced that a limited musical series was on the way. Currently referred to under the working title Beauty and the Beast, the eight-episode series will serve as a prequel to the 2017 live-action remake of the original animated feature.

As first reported by Variety, Hawkeye star Fra Fee has joined the cast of the series, in which he will star as the “handsome, charismatic, and confident” Prince Benoit Berlioz. Berlioz is a childhood friend of Tilly, who will be portrayed by the previously announced Briana Middleton. The roles of Gaston and LeFou (Louie) will be reprised by Luke Evans and Josh Gad, respectively.

Set in the iconic kingdom of Beauty and the Beast years before the Beast and Belle’s epic romance, the series will follow Gaston and LeFou as they set off with LeFou’s step-sister, Tilly, after a surprising revelation from her past comes to light, sending the unlikely trio off on an unexpected journey filled with romance, comedy, and adventure. While the mysteries of the past are uncovered and the dangers of the present grow, old friends and new enemies reveal that this familiar kingdom harbors many secrets.

The series is being developed, executive-produced, and written by Gad and Once Upon a Time‘s Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz, all of whom will serve as co-showrunners as well. Tony Award-nominated director Liesl Tommy serves as an executive producer and will be directing the first episode (which will feature lyrics from Tangled‘s Glenn Slater).

Beauty and the Beast will feature an original soundtrack from the EGOT Award-winning composer Alan Menken, who will also serve as an executive producer.

Stay tuned for more news on this limited musical series!

‘Bridgerton’: New Images Released as Season 2 Draws Closer

Dearest readers, it has come to this author’s attention that we have a most enthralling and juicy bit of gossip. We are all eagerly anticipating the return of our beloved Bridgerton this very spring on March 25. Today, we’ve been given brand new images of the upcoming second season’s cast of colorful characters and they are a feast for the eyes!

The Bridgertons remain the height of fashion with the Viscount setting his sights on finding a bride. It certainly seems from these images, dear reader, that Miss Sharma may have caught his attentions. Lady Featherington and her gaggle of young ladies are also pictured, though this author can’t say the new color palette of their dear mamma do anything for the young ladies complexions. In any case, the muted tones might serve in drawing suitors this season rather than scaring them away. We mustn’t overlook the latest image of our Queen, who sits reading a most salacious edition from yours truly. Will her Majesty’s luck in choosing our diamond of the season last year hold strong once again? I’ll leave these images for you to examine yourself, dear reader.

Yours Truly,

Lady Whistledown

Daniel Radcliffe to Play “Weird Al” Yankovic in Upcoming Biopic

0

Things are about to get weird: Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe has been tapped to portray “Weird Al” Yankovic in an upcoming biopic.

You read that correctly. Roku Channel, Funny or Die and Tango are producing a biopic about the multi-Grammy-winning accordion player and musical parody genius “Weird Al” Yankovic starring Daniel Radcliffe.

Officially titled WEIRD: The Al Yankovic Story, the screenplay was written by Yankovic and Eric Appel (you may know him for his work leading episodes of Brooklyn Nine-Nine or New Girl). Appel will also be filling the director’s chair when production begins in Los Angeles next month.

Coming 33 years after the release of Yankovic’s last movie UHF (1989), this biopic will give fans a new look into the life of the musician. The official synopsis promises the film will cover everything “from his meteoric rise to fame with early hits like ‘Eat It’ and ‘Like a Surgeon’ to his torrid celebrity love affairs and famously depraved lifestyle. WEIRD: The Al Yankovic Story takes audiences on a truly unbelievable journey through Yankovic’s life and career, from gifted child prodigy to the greatest musical legend of all time.”

While Radcliffe may seem like a unique choice for the role, Yankovic is reportedly thrilled that Radcliffe is onboard to portray him. Not to mention, Radcliffe has had great success on Broadway even starring in How to Succeed In Business Without Really Trying to flex his musical skills. Plus his recent work on Miracle Workers has definitely prepared him for a role that may be a little more out of the box.

‘The Book of Boba Fett’ Episode 4 Hints at Return of [SPOILER]

Warning: Spoilers for episode 4 of The Book of Boba Fett

In this week’s episode of The Book of Boba Fett, “The Gathering Storm,” we learned, through flashbacks, how Boba Fett and Fennec Shand struck up their alliance that began with a very brief tease in The Mandalorian season 1, episode 5 “The Gunslinger.”

After finding Fennec left for dead in the desert, Fett brought her to a mod-parlor on the outskirts of Mos Eisley in order to save her. Fennec decided to stick around after their first mission and joined Fett as he took revenge on the Nikto sand riders who killed the Tusken Raiders and then began to search for his armor in the belly of the Sarlacc. They would later go on to take the throne from Bib Fortuna.

In the current day, a war is brimming on the horizon with the arrival of the Pyke Syndicate. While the Twins may no longer be cause for concern for Boba Fett, he has a bone to pick with the Pykes. He calls for a meeting of Mos Espa’s ruling families, the Trandoshans, the Klatooinians, and the Aqualish, and he explains that the Pyke Syndicate are mustering troops in the city. They have begun to absorb Tatooine as a part of their spice trade. They’ve bribed the Mayor, and they’re draining the planet of its wealth. While the families don’t intend to fight beside him, Fett (with the help of some scare tactics from his rancor) implores them to remain neutral if the Pyke Syndicate asks them to betray him. They agree to his terms.

Later, after their guests leave, Boba Fett and Fennec discuss the fact that they must now prepare for war. Fennec inquires how many credits they have in reserve, and Fett tells her that there are plenty, but the problem is that they’re short on muscle. Fennec replies, “Credits can buy muscle, if you know where to look.” Her statement is punctuated by a very familiar sound … the Mandalorian’s theme.

Based on this, it’s safe to assume that Pedro Pascal’s Din Djarin will be making a surprise appearance in a future episode of The Book of Boba Fett. Throughout the course of The Mandalorian, it was made clear that Din is an incredibly skilled and capable bounty hunter. Following the alliance that they forged in season 2 of The Mandalorian, it makes perfect sense that Boba Fett and Fennec would turn to him for assistance.

Still from The Mandalorian
Lucasfilm

The Mandalorian season 3 is in production, but a release date has not yet been confirmed. The Book of Boba Fett filled the slot that The Mandalorian would have taken, the second season of which finished airing in December of 2020. So while it’s unclear when exactly we’ll see Din Djarin leading the charge on our television screens once again, his cameo in The Book of Boba Fett will be a sight for sore eyes indeed.

Don’t miss the next episode of The Book of Boba Fett when it premieres exclusively on Disney+ next Wednesday, January 26. Make sure to follow along with all of our coverage on the series, including episodic recaps and more.

‘The Lord of the Rings’ Series From Prime Video Gets Title With More Plot Details Announced

The Lord of the Rings series from Prime Video has finally gotten an official title, The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power.

Prime has teased the era for its Middle-earth series, with the map of the fallen kingdom of Númenor the only hint of what was to come. In a brief teaser posted with the title, Prime has finally solidified its series will take place in the Second Age of Middle-earth.

From the darkest depths of the Misty Mountains, to the majestic forests of the elf-capital of Lindon, to the breathtaking island kingdom of Númenor, to the furthest reaches of the map, these kingdoms and characters will carve out legacies that live on long after they are gone.

The Second Age follows the rise of the Rings of Power, not just the One Ring. “Three for the Elven-kings under the sky, Seven for the Dwarf-lords in their halls of stone, Nine for Mortal Men, doomed to die, One for the Dark Lord on his dark throne in the land of Mordor where shadows lie.” A voice eerily similar to that of Galadriel, who opened the original film trilogy with a monologue recapping the Second Age, narrated the trailer, only fueling the speculation that a younger Lady of Lórien and keeper of the Ring Nenya, will be making an appearance in the series.

Prime Video’s The Lord of the Rings has already been renewed for a second season and has a five-season minimum, leaving plenty of time to explore the many events of Middle-earth’s Second Age. These events include the rise and fall of the great kingdom of men in Númenor, the forging of the Rings of Power, and the Last Alliance of Elves and Men against the Dark Lord Sauron, which would then usher in the Third Age.

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power will air exclusively on Prime Video beginning September 2.
