‘My Hero Academia: You’re Next’ English Dub Trailer Released

My Hero Academia: You’re Next will soon be making its way to theaters, and ahead of the premiere, the English dub trailer has been released!

“In a society where heroes and villains continuously battle in the name of peace and chaos, Deku, a U.A. High School student who aspires to be the best hero he can be, confronts the villain who imitates the hero he’s long admired. Can Deku and the rest of U.A. High Class 1-A protect the world by putting an end to Dark Might, the man claiming to be the new Symbol of Peace?”

My Hero Academia is a Japanese anime series based on Kohei Horikoshi’s manga series, which recently came to an end. It is set in a world where about eighty percent of the population has a superpowered Quirk. Heroes protect people and society from accidents, disasters, and villains—criminals who use their Quirks for evil. The story of Izuku Midoriya and his classmates at U.A. High School and their growth, fights, and friendship unfolds as they aim to become heroes.

My Hero Academia: You’re Next will land in theaters the U.S. and Canada on Friday, October 11 (English subtitles and English dub). Tickets are now on sale.

Earlier this month, it was announced that the North American premiere of the film will take place at Beyond Fest in Los Angeles, California on October 6 .

On December 17, the first cour of season 1 of Frieren: Beyond Journey‘s End is coming to Blu-ray. The second half of the first season will be available at a later date. The first part will include multiple art cards of the iconic characters.

‘Solo Leveling’ Season 2 to Premiere January 2025

Exciting Solo Leveling news has come out of Aniplex Online Fest, confirming a January 2025 release date for the anime’s second season, entitled Solo Leveling Season 2 -Arise from the Shadow-.

A new key visual was also released.

Additionally, a season 1 compilation film (which will include an advance screening of the first two episodes of season 2) — entitled Solo Leveling -ReAwakening- — will premiere in theaters in Japan at the end of November.

Based on Chugong’s web novel turned webtoon and manhwa (illustrated by DUBU), the first season of the anime adaptation of Solo Leveling premiered earlier this year. As described by Crunchyroll:

“They say whatever doesn’t kill you makes you stronger, but that’s not the case for the world’s weakest hunter Sung Jinwoo. After being brutally slaughtered by monsters in a high-ranking dungeon, Jinwoo came back with the System, a program only he could see, that’s leveling him up in every way. Now, he’s inspired to discover the secrets behind his powers and the dungeon that spawned them.”

An action RPG based on the series, Solo Leveling:ARISE, was also released this year.

‘The Fragrant Flower Blooms with Dignity’ Anime Adaptation Coming 2025

As announced during Aniplex Online Fest, an anime adaptation is on the way for Saka Mikami’s manga series The Fragrant Flower Blooms with Dignity. The anime, which will be produced by CloverWorks, is due to premiere in 2025.

A teaser for the series has also been shared.

Kodansha USA began releasing the manga, which began serialization in October 2021, in English print earlier this year. Kodansha describes the first volume as follows:

“Chidori High is a boys’ school that takes in the dregs of society with the lowest grades. Next door stands Kikyo Girls’ High, where the wealthy, high-class families send their precious daughters. Chidori second-year Rintaro, who has a fierce face but a gentle heart, is helping at his family’s patisserie when he meets a girl named Kaoruko. The two hit it off right away … but this blissful peace is quickly disturbed when Rintaro discovers that Kaoruko is actually a student at Kikyo. Worse, she doesn’t seem to realize what a huge problem this really is! Will these two be able to forge a path for themselves, and sidestep the traps (metaphorical and literal) laid by their classmates?”

‘Salem’s Lot’: A Dark Story Awaits in Official Trailer

Ahead of its upcoming debut on Max, the official trailer for Salem’s Lot has arrived.

The film follows author Ben Mears (Lewis Pullman) as he returns to his childhood home of Jerusalem’s Lot in search of inspiration for his next book only to discover his hometown is being preyed upon by a bloodthirsty vampire.

In addition to Pullman, the film stars Alfre Woodard (Dr. Cody), Makenzie Leigh (Susan Norton), Bill Camp (Matthew Burke), Spencer Treat Clark (Mike Ryerson), Pilou Asbæk (Straker), and John Benjamin Hickey (Father Callahan).

New Line Cinema’s latest adaptation of Salem’s Lot is based on Stephen King’s 1975 bestselling novel. Gary Dauberman writes, directs, and executive produces the film. Producers include James Wan and Michael Clear for Atomic Monster; Roy Lee for Vertigo; and Mark Wolper.

Salem’s Lot, a Max Original film, will premiere on Max on October 3.

HBO Picks Up ‘The Chair Company’ Starring Tim Robinson

Following a pilot order earlier this year, HBO has officially picked up the half-hour comedy The Chair Company. The series stars Tim Robinson, who also serves as a writer and executive producer alongside Zach Kanin.

The series follows a man named William Ronald Trosper (Robinson) who finds himself investigating a far-reaching conspiracy after an embarrassing incident at work.

In addition to Robinson, series regulars include Lake Bell as Barb Trosper, Sophia Lillis as Natalie Trosper, Will Price as Seth Trosper, and Joseph Tudisco as Mike Santini. Lou Diamond Phillips guest starred in the pilot as Jeff Levjman (which was directed and executive produced by Andrew DeYoung).

Adam McKay and Todd Schulman also serve as executive producers for HyperObject Industries, as well as Igor Srubshchik.

JonBenét Ramsey Series Announces Title Role, Additional Cast

The title role of the upcoming Paramount+ limited series JonBenét Ramsey (working title) has been announced, with Emily Mitchell set to star. Additional cast members announced include Garrett Hedlund, Alison Pill, and Owen Teague.

“[The series] explores the tragic unsolved murder of six-year-old beauty queen JonBenét Ramsey. It follows the Ramsey family, before and after the tragedy as they go through the painful loss of a child while facing intense public scrutiny caused by a media frenzy that caused this case to captivate an entire nation. At the heart of the series, it is the story of Patsy and John Ramsey — exploring the unbreakable partnership of these two complex people — as husband and wife, as mother and father — who had committed themselves and their children to building the narrative of a perfect, privileged life only to have it destroyed one Christmas night in 1996.”

Hedlund will fill the role of Detective Steve Thomas, while Pill will play Colorado police detective Linda Arndt, and Teague will be seen as tabloid reporter Jeff Shapiro.

Previously announced cast include Melissa McCarthy and Clive Owen, who will star as JonBenét’s parents, Patsy and John Bennett Ramsey. Meanwhile, Shea Whigham and Will Patton will play District Attorney Alex Hunter and retired detective Lou Smit, respectively.

The series is produced by MTV Entertainment Studios and 101 Studios, with Richard LaGravenese serving as showrunner, as well as an executive producer. Production is set to begin in Calgary, Canada.

‘Dune: Prophecy’ Fan Experience and Exclusive Panel Coming to NYCC!

The highly anticipated HBO Original drama Dune: Prophecy is due to premiere this November. Those attending New York Comic Con can now look forward to an exclusive panel with special appearances and an interactive fan activation ahead of the series’ upcoming debut!

Fan opportunities and events at NYCC will include:

October 17-20 – “Dune: Prophecy Experience” 

  • Max, in partnership with Droga5, will unveil “The Dune: Prophecy Experience” in the 4th floor Pavilion of the Javits Center. This beautifully rendered activation will transport participants to the mysterious world of Wallach IX, where The Voice will command them to undergo a series of trials reflecting the Sisterhood’s rigorous training methods. Those who heed the commands of the Sisterhood and successfully complete the challenges will be rewarded with exclusive NYCC swag.  

October 17 (3-4 p.m. ET) – NYCC Cast and Creatives Panel @ the Empire Stage 

  • Showrunner and executive producer Alison Schapker, executive producer Jordan Goldberg, and cast members Emily Watson, Olivia Williams, Travis Fimmel, Sarah-Sofie Boussnina, Josh Heuston, Chloe Lea and Jessica Barden will reveal the official trailer and tease what fans can expect from the new series. Immediately following its in-room debut, the trailer will be released globally to the public.   

Additionally, on Thursday, November 7, in partnership with Alamo Drafthouse, Max will host a national pre-premiere fan screening program featuring themed menu items, pre-screening trivia, and other unique elements.  

Max will also be launching a companion podcast offering insights from the creators, creatives, and cast.

“10,000 years before the ascension of Paul Atreides, ‘Dune: Prophecy’ follows two Harkonnen sisters as they combat forces that threaten the future of humankind and establish the fabled sect that will become known as the Bene Gesserit. This is the origin story of the Sisterhood during one of the most turbulent and pivotal turning points in the Dune universe’s history.”

New York Comic Con will take place October 17-20 at the Javits Center in New York City.

Photos: The Tricky MC Tour the UK & Ireland

The Tricky MC, comprised of musicians Billy Moran and Paul Carella, set out for a tour across the UK and Ireland. Also joining the tour was Mark Sheppard, who played drums, and Mandy Clarke, who played bass.

The Who’s Next? tour started in Edinburgh on August 29 before heading to Glasgow, Birmingham, Brighton, London, and Dublin, finally ending in Belfast on September 8.

The setlist included nine Tricky MC songs, including two that are available now, “Shed A Little Light” and “I’m Back”, plus seven brand-new songs. “Coyote” and “Little Dreamer” from Moran’s solo album were also included, as well as Carella’s “Hero” and “I Tried”. They also threw in Carella’s “Red Sole Woman” and “Chasing Echoes”, as well as his cover of “Bad Things” on a couple of the nights as extra songs when the crowd didn’t want the show to end.

All shows offered a VIP option, which got you a signed tour poster by all 4 members, early entry with a Q&A, and a photo with the band.

It was an exciting tour full of great music and great crowds.

Trailer Released for ‘The Radleys’

Lionsgate has released the trailer for The Radleys, opening in theaters, on digital, and on demand on October 4.

The film stars Damian Lewis, Kelly Macdonald, Harry Baxendale, Bo Bragson, Jay Lycurgo, Siân Phillips, and Shaun Parkes. It was written by Talitha Stevenson, and directed by Euros Lyn.

Here’s the synopsis:

Award-winning actors Kelly Macdonald (No Country For Old Men) and Damian Lewis (“Billions,” Once Upon a Time…in Hollywood) star in a dark comedy thriller about a seemingly average suburban family with a juicy secret: they are vampires. In the light of day, the Radleys might seem normal, but they can only abstain from their natural cravings for so long until the bloody truth bubbles to the surface and turns their quiet country life upside down.
