We got to preview the all new family roller coaster, Cobra’s Curse, at Busch Gardens a day before it officially opens! Cobra’s Curse officially opens to the public tomorrow, June 17.
Everything about the ride is phenomenal – see below as we break down all of the elements that made this a home run for the park.
The Queue
We were incredibly impressed with the queue for this ride. First off, the line is inside with air conditioning which will make this one of the more popular rides that families will wait in line for to get out of the heat.
The theming is great – you can tell that they really put a lot of detail into it. There’s a great projection show in one of the rooms that has two scenes – with red and blue energy – that takes over the room every three minutes. Creative Director Brian Morrow also told us that they have an entire book filled with the backstory for each and every character for the ride with pictures, biographies and more. Sadly, there are no plans to release that any time soon to the public.
Another part of the queue is that you get to pass by an enclosure of live snakes. The enclosure is designed beautifully, with Zoo Manager Phil Hillary telling us how the snakes – which are different species – are getting along quite well. He stated that one of the species actually spent time in the same area as another one, peacefully cohabiting. He also stated that there’s not any territorial issues, but that the snakes are fed separately. You can tell how much attention and detail they’re giving to the enclosure, as well as how much they really care for the snakes.
The Ride
The ride starts out going up a 70-foot lift as you come face-to-fang with the Snake King himself. You then travel down the ride going forwards, backwards and finally going into a free spin. This ride is a lot of fun and everyone coming off the ride was laughing and smiling. Busch Gardens is on the right track with this ride. With all of the new rides popping up in the last few years – Cheetah Hunt, Falcon’s Fury and now Cobra’s Curse – Busch Gardens is a great place to go to get a great experience.
Merchandise
Busch Gardens debuted a bunch of new merchandise for the ride including t-shirts, cups, bags, wine bottles and more. Check out the pictures below!
Cobra’s Twissst
As an addition, Coca-Cola has teamed up with Busch Gardens to launch Cobra’s Twissst, a new soda flavor. It tastes a bit like a mixture of cherry with lemon-lime. It was delicious and a great, refreshing drink to have on a hot day.
Overall, we really loved the look and feel of this ride. The attention to detail is amazing and people are going to go crazy over this ride! Well done Busch Gardens!
According to TVLine.com, Teen Wolf’s Tyler Hoechlin will play Superman on Supergirl. Supergirl was just moved to The CW from CBS and will air on Mondays.

The first guests include “Weird Al” Yankovic on the first episode, Leonard Nimoy’s son and director Adam Nimoy on the second episode and MTV News Correspondent Josh Horowitz on the third episode.
“Weird Al” seen here with host Jordan
Below are previews of each episode:
“WEIRD AL” ON HIS FIRST MEMORY OF STAR TREK
When asked by Hoffman if he was aware about the first series, Yankovic said: “I was [aware of Star Trek.] Honestly, my only memory was once I kind of got into a little bit of a fight with my parents because I wanted to stay up late enough to watch Star Trek. It was a little past my bedtime, but I was always like, ‘Just a few minutes more. I really want to watch Star Trek.’ [His parents saying,] ‘No, it’s past your bedtime.’ I said, ‘I’ll forgo my allowance this week if you just let me watch Star Trek!’
ADAM NIMOY ON HIS DOCUMENTARY, “FOR THE LOVE OF SPOCK”
Nimoy discussed his documentary, “For the Love of Spock,” which will be released in theaters and VOD day-and-date on Sept. 9, the day after the 50th anniversary of Star Trek. He discussed the changes in his intention behind the film: “The intention going in was different from what the end product turned out to be in part because going in, I was working with my dad. And we wanted to make a Spock doc – just Spock. That was going to be the focus. Dad was very concerned that it not be the ‘Leonard Nimoy Show’ – he really wanted to keep the fans focused on the character and in great detail, kind of explore Spock. How he came about, how he was created, how he evolved, why he resonates with so many people for so many years. That was our initial intention. After my dad passed away, there was such a response to the loss – not only to Spock, but to Leonard Nimoy, the artist and humanitarian. It was clear we needed to expand the film to include more of his life and legacy as well. It seemed fitting and appropriate to pay tribute to him, as well as to Spock and yet still service… keep it ‘Spock-centric’ but try and find a balance between the two.”
“And in that journey of exploring my dad’s life and legacy,” Nimoy continued. “My story started to become more intertwined with that, and there was a chorus of people… that [said] I should include my own perspective, my own story, my family perspective and how it impacted all of us. Because we are just an American family, born of immigrants… but we went through an incredible time and evolution… It had a big effect on my relationship with my dad. The focus then turned into intertwining these three elements – Spock, Leonard, myself and the family, and myself and my dad.”
JOSH HOROWITZ ON PATRICK STEWART
Horowitz is known for his fun interviews with different actors and personalities, as well as his podcast, ‘Happy Sad Confused.’ On his podcast, he interviewed Sir Patrick Stewart (AKA Captain Picard) and shares with Hoffman a funny story: “My podcast is called ‘Happy Sad Confused,’ and it grew out of a silly photo thing that I continue to do where after I do an interview with somebody… I always do three photos – a really big happy face, a really sad face and a really confused face. So I had Sir Patrick Stewart on the podcast and it was magical, as you would expect it to be. We did the photos afterwards, and I thought at the time that he wasn’t moving his face at all. [I thought] he was just being stoic and not enjoying the process… I looked at the photos later, he’s actually moving his facial muscles in such a subtle, beautiful way that he was actually conveying happy, sad, confused.”

Disney has released the full-length trailer for their newest live-action film, Pete’s Dragon. Based off the 1977 animated film, this new version stars Bryce Dallas Howard, Oakes Fegley, Wes Bentley, Karl Urban and Robert Redford. The film is set to open in theaters on August 12, 2016!
Synopsis
For years, old wood carver Mr. Meacham (Robert Redford) has delighted local children with his tales of the fierce dragon that resides deep in the woods of the Pacific Northwest. To his daughter, Grace (Bryce Dallas Howard), who works as a forest ranger, these stories are little more than tall tales…until she meets Pete (Oakes Fegley). Pete is a mysterious 10-year-old with no family and no home who claims to live in the woods with a giant, green dragon named Elliott. And from Pete’s descriptions, Elliott seems remarkably similar to the dragon from Mr. Meacham’s stories. With the help of Natalie (Oona Laurence), an 11-year-old girl whose father Jack (Wes Bentley) owns the local lumber mill, Grace sets out to determine where Pete came from, where he belongs, and the truth about this dragon.
