Based on and inspired by Beyoncé’s previous album The Lion King: The Gift, Black is King is meant to pay homage to Black culture, celebrating and uplifting the Black experience by exploring the journey of Black families and culture throughout the ages by “[reimagining] the lessons of The Lion King for today’s young kings and queens in search of their own crowns.”
