Sony has released the official trailer for the next entry to their Shared Spider-Man Universe (SSU), Madame Web.
Jessica Jones director S.J. Clarkson helms Sony’s first female-led Marvel movie, directing from a script she co-wrote with Claire Parker. Dakota Johnson steps into the titular role with Sydney Sweeney playing Julia Carpenter/Spider-Woman. The cast also stars Celeste O’Connor, Isabela Merced, Tahar Rahim, Mike Epps, Emma Roberts, and Adam Scott.
The synopsis for the movie reads:
“In a switch from the typical genre, Madame Web tells the standalone origin story of one of Marvel publishing’s most enigmatic heroines. The suspense-driven thriller stars Dakota Johnson as Cassandra Webb, a paramedic in Manhattan who may have clairvoyant abilities. Forced to confront revelations about her past, she forges a relationship with three young women destined for powerful futures… if they can all survive a deadly present.”
After Madame Web in Sony’s SSU are the Aaron Taylor-Johnson led Kraven the Hunter, which was pushed from an October 2023 release to August 30, 2024, and the third installment to the Venom franchise, currently set for release on November 8, 2024.
