Nick Aldis Debuts in WWE, Named General Manager of SmackDown

On tonight’s season premiere of WWE SmackDown, veteran wrestler Nick Aldis debuted in WWE and was named the General Manager of the brand.

Aldis, a veteran professional wrestler with over three decades in the business, is a former two-time NWA World Heavyweight Champion who held the title for over 1000 days in his second reign. After finishing up with NWA he spent this spring in Impact Wrestling, losing to Impact World Champion Alex Shelley at Slammiversary in July. Aldis will replace Adam Pearce who has been promoted to Monday Night RAW.

WWE Chief Content Officer Triple H and Pearce appeared in the ring where Triple H commended Pearce for all of his work the past three years but before he could name the new general manager of SmackDown, Dominik Mysterio made his way out to the ring. Mysterio, who is once again the NXT North American Champion, aired his grievances with Pearce giving Cody Rhodes and Jey Uso getting booked in a tag team championship match ahead of the Judgement Day’s rematch. Triple H said he should take it up with SmackDown’s new general manager, Aldis.
