Watch the Official Trailer for ‘The Exorcist: Believer’

Universal Pictures has released the official trailer for their upcoming theatrical release The Exorcist: Believer.

The franchise is being revived by Halloween rebooter David Gordon Green, with Believer serving as a sequel to the original 1973 The Exorcist. The script for the pre-Halloween release is penned by Gordon Green and Peter Sattler from a story by Green, Scott Teems, and Danny McBride.

The film is produced by Jason Blum for Blumhouse and by David Robinson and James G. Robinson for Morgan Creek Entertainment, with McBride, Green, Stephanie Allain, Ryan Turek and Atilla Yücer executive producing.

The official synopsis for The Exorcist: Believer reads:

“Since the death of his pregnant wife in a Haitian earthquake 12 years ago, Victor Fielding has raised their daughter, Angela on his own. But when Angela and her friend Katherine, disappear in the woods, only to return three days later with no memory of what happened to them, it unleashes a chain of events that will force Victor to confront the nadir of evil and, in his terror and desperation, seek out the only person alive who has witnessed anything like it before: Chris MacNeil.”

Starring in Believer is Leslie Odom Jr., Lidya Jewett, newcomer Olivia Marcum, Ann Dowd, Jennifer Nettles, Norbert Leo Butz. Returning to the franchise fifty years after the original’s release is Ellen Burstyn in her iconic role as Chris MacNeil, an actress who has been forever altered by what happened to her daughter Regan.
