A24’s upcoming wrestling biopic The Iron Claw based on the Von Erich family that stars Zac Efron and Jeremy Allen White is set to debut this December in theaters.
While currently in post-production, the film stars Efron as WWE Hall of Famer “The Golden Warrior” Kevin Von Erich with Lily James portraying Kevin’s wife, Pam. Allen White and Harris Dickinson portray Kevin’s brothers “The Texas Tornado” Kerry Von Erich and “The Yellow Rose of Texas” David Von Erich with Holt McCallany playing Fritz Von Erich, the patriarch of the Von Erich family who was the owner of World Class Championship Wrestling. Professional wrestler and current AEW World Champion Maxwell Jacob Friedman stars in his first feature film role as Lance Von Erich, the fictional Von Erich cousin.
Slated for release on December 22, The Iron Claw follows the famous wrestling dynasty that heralded the wrestling industry in the 1960s. Members of the family wrestled wrestling legends like Harley Race, Ric Flair, The Fabulous Freebirds, that has suffered immeasurable loss throughout their time inside the ring and out. Often referred to as the “Von Erich curse,” Kevin was the only one of his siblings that survived, living to continue the legacy of his family and tell their stories from a first hand account.
