Bleecker Street has acquired the North American rights to a Stone Age set horror film from Sony Pictures’ Stage 6, Out of Darkness (previously titled The Origin).

Set over 45,000 years ago, Out of Darkness follows a disparate group of early humans who have banded together in search of new land. However, the newly formed clan is forced to face a more horrifying danger than they could have imaged as they realize they’re being hunted by a malevolent and dangerous being.

The film premiered last October at the BFI London Film Festival and was immediately met with acclaim due to its approach on a seldom explored time period in film, much less the horror genre specifically. The cast for Out of Darkness includes Oakley-Green, Chuku Modu, Kit Young, Iola Evans, Luna Mwezi, Arno Luening, and industry newcomers Rosebud Melarkey and Tyrell Mhlanga.

Bleecker Street is planning a fall or winter theatrical release for Out of Darkness. Stay tuned with Nerds & Beyond for updates.
