Paramount Pictures has announced that Ridley Scott’s Gladiator sequel will premiere on November 22, 2024! Paul Mescal, who recently earned his first Oscar nomination for Aftersun, will star in the film. The sequel’s official title and plot have not yet been released.

The original Gladiator premiered in 2000 to critical and commercial success, winning several Oscars, including Best Picture and Best Actor for Russell Crowe as Maximus. Mescal will play Lucius, the son of Maximus’ lover Lucilla (Connie Nielsen), and the nephew of Commodus (Joaquin Phoenix). Lucius appears as a child in the original film and was played by Spencer Treat Clark.
