‘Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes’ Adds ‘Severance’ Star Dichen Lachman

Apple TV

The Hollywood Reporter has announced that Dichen Lachman is the latest addition to the upcoming Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes. Lachman is currently known for starring in Apple TV+’s Severance. She joins the previously announced William H. Macy, Freya Allan, Owen Teague, Kevin Durand, Peter Macon, Travis Jeffery, Neil Sandilands, Sara Wiseman, Ras-Samuel Welda’abzgi, and Lydia Peckham.

The latest Planet of the Apes installment is set several years following the events of War for the Planet of the Apes. The apes have grown their societies, with some following the teachings Caesar left behind while others have never heard of him. Meanwhile, humans have been reduced to a “feral-like existence.” In these new societies, one ape enslaves others in search of human technology while another pursues freedom — and a human becomes integral to these plans, though she also has her own agenda.

The film is written by Josh Friedman, Patrick Aison, and Rise of the Planet of the Apes scribes Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver. Jaffa, Silver, Joe Hartwick Jr., and Jason Reed produce, with Peter Chernin and Jenno Topping as executive producers. Filming is currently underway in Australia.

Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes releases in 2024.
