The Critics Choice Association has announced the film category nominees for the upcoming 28th Annual Critics Choice Awards! Aftersun has earned three nominations including two for its leading actors.

  • Best Actor – Paul Mescal
  • Best Young Actor/Actress – Frankie Corio
  • Best Original Screenplay – Charlotte Wells

Aftersun is a semi-autobiographical independent film that chronicles one pivotal summer vacation that 11-year-old Sophie (Corio) goes on with her father Calum (Mescal). The emotionally devastating examination of growing up has garnered praise for its performances and direction along with its unique cinematography. Aftersun is also Corio’s first film and writer/director Wells’ directorial debut.

The winners for both television and film will be revealed at the Critics Choice Awards gala hosted by Chelsea Handler, which will air on The CW on Sunday, January 15, 2023, starting at 7 p.m. ET. Check out the full list of film nominees here!
