Starting on Friday, Grease fans will have a chance to watch the classic film on the big screen! The film returns to theaters for a limited release to honor the late Olivia Newton-John, who passed away on August 8. Tickets will cost $5, with $1 from each sale donated to AMC’s charitable fund AMC Cares. The proceeds will go to breast cancer research.
Grease was originally released in the summer of 1978 with Olivia Newton John portraying Sandy Olsson and John Travolta playing Danny Zuko. The film was an instant hit in both theaters and on the radio with such hits as “You’re the One That I Want”, “Summer Nights”, and “Hopelessly Devoted to You”. The film remains as popular today as it did then, with generations of people falling in love with its catchy tunes and timeless story of finding your first love.
