Alagaësians, rejoice! After years of fan and author led campaigns, Variety is exclusively reporting that an Eragon series is in the early stages of development at Disney+! Per their reporting, author Christopher Paolini would be involved in the project as a co-writer. Eragon is the first book in the Inheritance Cycle, the bestselling series that along with Harry Potter and Percy Jackson dominated early 2000s kid-lit. Paolini also confirmed the news on his Twitter account.

This isn’t the first time the series has been adapted for the screen. In 2006, 20th Century Fox released Eragon, which was meant to kickstart a competing film franchise to Harry Potter. Unfortunately, the film underperformed critically and commercially, with many fans panning the changes made to the source material. With the announcement that Percy Jackson and the Olympians would be getting a second chance on Disney+, fans soon turned to the streamer as a potential home for a new Eragon series. With today’s news, it seems the Alagaësians have been victorious. Stay tuned for more news as we get it!
