Demigods, our prayers have finally been answered! According to a message from Uncle Rick himself, Disney+ has officially greenlit Percy Jackson and the Olympians, the live-action television version of the beloved children’s book series!

This series has been in the works for approximately a year and a half, as author Rick Riordan announced the series’ development back in May of 2020. The first season of the series is set to follow the events of the first book in the series, The Lightning Thief.

According to Riordan, the development team is still in the scriptwriting process, approximately around episode 4. Details are still sparse, but we do know that casting calls for Percy, Annabeth, and Grover are currently open. As always, stay tuned for more information as it becomes available. In the meantime, make sure to check out our continuing coverage of the show, including some things we would like to see happen in the series!
