Following the announcement that new Avengers movies are coming from Marvel Studios in 2025 at San Diego Comic-Con this past weekend, the first of the two films has found a leader for their new dynasty. Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings director Destin Daniel Cretton has been tapped to direct Avengers: The Kang Dynasty.

A variant of Kang the Conqueror portrayed by Jonathan Majors known as He Who Remains made his MCU debut in the Disney+ series Loki, and audiences will see Kang the Conqueror himself appear in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. The Kang Dynasty is still primarily a mystery as we do not know what the team of Avengers will look like or exactly what plot this film will follow, however, we do know that there is a multi-issue Avengers comic book storyline that ran from 2001-2002 of the same name. The comic series saw Kang and his son Marcus arrive in the 21st century with plans to conquer Earth, and it is pretty safe to assume that this film will see the Avengers take on Kang.

Avengers: The Kang Dynasty will hit theaters on May 2, 2025, followed by Avengers: Secret Wars on November 7, 2025. Our Marvel Studios coverage can be found here.
