According to Deadline, Academy Award nominee Maria Bakalova will make an appearance in Marvel Studios’ upcoming third installment to their Guardians of the Galaxy franchise. While Bakalova’s specific role is unknown, it is being described as a key role.

The Guardians of the Galaxy are returning to the cinematic screen for their third stand-alone film entry into the Marvel Cinematic Universe next year, which means soon we’ll get to watch them once again “kick names and take ass.”

The third installment continues to add newcomers in addition to the returning core cast that audiences have seen in past Guardians films. In addition to Bakalova, Will Poulter is confirmed for the cast as Adam Warlock, a character who spans over five decades and is meant to be the pinnacle of human evolution. Also joining the cast will be Chukwudi Iwuji, who has already worked with Gunn for the Peacemaker series. Iwuji’s role in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is unknown and will remain a mystery, for now, although speculation has of course begun across the internet. Last week, Suicide Squad breakout star Daniela Melchior was also confirmed as an addition to the cast.

According to Gunn’s Twitter, there are more cast members who have yet to be announced or revealed for the project. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 has a current theatrical release date of May 5, 2023. Stay tuned with Nerds & Beyond as news for this film comes to light.
