‘The Boys’: Payback Poster With Soldier Boy Released Ahead of Official Trailer

Share:

It’s been two months since the first teaser trailer for season 3 of Prime Video’s The Boys dropped. Now, with just a few (torturous) weeks to go until we can finally return to our favorite fictional world of depraved superheroes, it looks like we can expect the official trailer to arrive next Monday.

In the meantime, audiences can mull over the newest season 3 imagery — a movie poster featuring the members of Payback. The poster, which has a tagline that states, “For these heroes the battle has just begun,” features Soldier Boy front and center, as well as some other Supes that we know … and some that we’ve yet to meet. Apparently, the poster may or may not make more sense once the trailer drops.

The season 3 synopsis is as follows:

“It’s been a year of calm. Homelander’s subdued. Butcher works for the government, supervised by Hughie of all people. But both men itch to turn this peace and quiet into blood and bone. So when The Boys learn of a mysterious Anti-Supe weapon, it sends them crashing into the Seven, starting a war, and chasing the legend of the first Superhero: Soldier Boy.”

The Boys is based on the comic book series by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson. The show is a fun and irreverent take on what happens when superheroes — who are as popular as celebrities, as influential as politicians, and as revered as gods — abuse their superpowers rather than use them for good. It’s the powerless against the super powerful as the Boys continue on a heroic quest to expose the truth about The Seven, and Vought — the multi-billion dollar conglomerate that manages these superheroes and covers up all of their dirty secrets.

The series stars Karl Urban, Jack Quaid, Antony Starr, Erin Moriarty, Laz Alonso, Karen Fukuhara, Tomer Capone, Dominique McElligott, Jessie T. Usher, Chace Crawford, Nathan Mitchell, Claudia Doumit, Colby Minifie, and more. Season 3 newcomers include Jensen Ackles, Laurie Holden, Katia Winter, Miles Gaston Villanueva, Sean Patrick Flanery, Nick Wechsler, Frances Turner, Kristin Booth, and Jack Doolan, among others.

The first three episodes of season 3 of The Boys will hit Prime Video on June 3, and the remaining five will premiere weekly on Fridays thereafter. In the meantime, seasons 1 and 2 are now streaming.

Stay tuned for all of our coverage on The Boys, including episodic recaps, reviews, and more.
