Jensen Ackles is booked and busy! We recently reported that Jensen Ackles would be guest-starring on ABC’s drama Big Sky in the season finale. It seems like that won’t be the end of Ackles’ stint on the show. Big Sky has just been renewed for a third season on ABC — and Ackles has been upgraded to a series regular!

Ackles is set to portray Beau Arlen, whose character can be described as “a confident and charming good ol’ boy from Texas who steps in as temporary Sheriff (and Jenny Hoyt’s new boss) as a favor to his friend Sheriff Tubb (Patrick Gallagher)” according to Deadline.

Ackles is best known for his role as Dean Winchester on Supernatural, which ran for 15 seasons. He is set to reprise that role in the recently ordered spin-off The Winchesters, which he and his wife, Danneel Ackles, will executive produce through Chaos Machine Productions. The actor is also set to appear in the upcoming third season of The Boys as Soldier Boy.

“Catch a Few Fish,” the season finale of Big Sky in which Ackles will appear, will air on Thursday, May 19 at 10 p.m. ET on ABC. As always, stay tuned for more updates.
