In March, reports surfaced that Tyler Hoechlin was in talks to reprise his role as Derek Hale for the Teen Wolf film. Now, the deal has been finalized, and he joins fellow alumni Tyler Posey, Shelley Hennig, Crystal Reed, Holland Roden, Khylin Rhambo, Ian Bohen, Colton Haynes, Ryan Kelley, Melissa Ponzio, Linden Ashby, JR Bourne, Seth Gilliam, and Dylan Sprayberry.

Hoechlin played the fan-favorite Derek Hale for five seasons of the series, first leaving after season 4 to pursue other ventures. Read the full synopsis for the film below.

“In TEEN WOLF THE MOVIE, a full moon rises in Beacon Hills, and with it a terrifying evil has emerged. The wolves are howling once again, calling for the return of banshees, werecoyotes, hellhounds, kitsunes, and every other shapeshifter in the night. But only a werewolf like Scott McCall (Posey), no longer a teenager yet still an alpha, can gather both new allies and reunite trusted friends to fight back against what could be the most powerful and deadliest enemy they’ve ever faced.”

New stars joining the fray include Vince Mattis who is playing Derek’s 15-year-old son Eli Hale, Nobi Nakanishi is playing Deputy Ishida, and Amy Lin Workman is playing Hikari Zhang.
