The sixth Scream installment is shaping up to be full of returning survivors. Just yesterday, it was announced that four of the leading survivors from Scream (2022) will make their return for the franchise’s sixth installment, and today it has been confirmed that Hayden Panettiere will reprise her Scream 4 role for the upcoming film.

Panettiere’s character, Kirby Reed, was an instant fan-favorite when Scream 4 released, immediately winning over fans of the franchise by being the beloved “horror nerd” character. While it was believed that Kirby met her demise at the hands of Ghostface, 2022’s Scream reboot requel confirmed that Kirby actually survived the attack, and is out giving interviews as one of the few Ghostface survivors. Fans immediately called for Panettiere to return to the franchise, and luckily they will get their wish with the sixth installment.

The creative team behind 2022’s Scream is returning, with Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett directing and James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick returning to pen the script. Vanderbilt, Paul Neinstein, and William Sherak will produce with Kevin Williamson, Chad Villella, Gary Barber, and Peter Oillataguerre as executive producers. Production is set to begin on the film next month.

This news was first reported by The Hollywood Reporter. The sixth Scream installment will slash its way exclusively into theaters March 31, 2023. Stay tuned with Nerds & Beyond here for additional updates.
