Fresh off his latest project, Mads Mikkelsen is set to star in the upcoming action-thriller The Black Kaiser. The film is adapted from Victor Santos’ graphic novel Polar.

The Black Kaiser will see another team up between Mikkelsen and director Jonas Åkerlund. Previously, the two worked together on Netflix’s film Polar (not to be confused with the above mentioned graphic novel). In The Black Kaiser, Mikkelsen will play the title character, “the world’s most lethal hitman” who becomes the target of a powerful and deadly syndicate after he learns about a conspiracy surrounding the group.

The Black Kaiser is written by Mikkelsen and Jayson Rothwell. Åkerlund will direct. Mikkelsen, Mike Richardson, Keith Goldberg, and Martin Moszkowicz serve as executive producers under XYZ films. Jeremy Bolt and Robert Kulzer will serve as producers. Constantin Film/JB Pictures will produce in association with Dark Horse Entertainment.

Additional casting is currently underway, and there is yet no projected release date. Stay tuned for more updates as they become available. In the meantime, read our article about six Mads Mikkelsen projects to watch while you wait for The Black Kaiser.
