‘Percy Jackson and the Olympians’ Casts Walker Scobell as Percy Jackson

Fans far and wide are ramping up for Disney+’s live-action adaptation of the beloved Percy Jackson & the Olympians series that’s set to start shooting this summer. The latest step in production is reason to rejoice; Variety announced that the show has cast its lead character of Percy Jackson in Walker Scobell.

Readers may recognize Scobell from his recent film debut in Netflix’s The Adam Project, where he stars opposite Ryan Reynolds, Mark Ruffalo, Zoe Saldaña, Jennifer Garner, and Catherine Keener. Scobell will take on the lead role of 12 year old Percy Jackson, who discovers he’s the son of an Olympian god when none other than Zeus accuses him of stealing his prized lightning bolt. Percy must embark on a trek across the country to restore order before time runs out. Casting for the remaining two lead characters of Annabeth Chase and Grover has yet to be announced, but are sure to follow soon.

As always, stay tuned for more updates as they become available. While you wait for more news, make sure to check out our other coverage on the show’s developments and all things Rick Riordan — including all of his upcoming projects in 2022 and beyond.
