‘Deadpool 3’ Taps Shawn Levy To Direct, Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick Returning To Pen Script
The third installment featuring the merc-with-a-mouth finally has some long-awaited good news.
The Ryan Reynolds and Shawn Levy duo is unstoppable, and is about to elevate from PG-13 to an R-Rating. Following 2021’s Free Guy and Netflix’s newly-released The Adam Project, Levy has been tapped to direct Deadpool 3. The first installment, Deadpool (2016), was directed by Tim Miller with the sequel helmed by David Leitch.
No strangers to collaboration with Reynolds, Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick penned the scripts for the first two Deadpool movies and have now re-joined the franchise to pen the script for the third installment. Wendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux-Logelin, known for their work on the hit animated series Bob’s Burgers, were previously working on the script.
Deadpool 3 is the first movie in the Deadpool franchise that Marvel Studios will have a hand in following Disney’s acquisition of 20th Century Studios. Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige previously revealed while speaking to Collider that Deadpool 3 will, in fact, be part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and retain its R-Rating.
Deadpool 3 does not currently have a release date, though many fans expect the movie mid-2023. Be sure to check back for more updates!
