‘9-1-1: Lone Star’: ‘Angel’ Alums Julie Benz and Amy Acker to Guest Star in Season 3

With 9-1-1: Lone Star‘s third season only two weeks away, the series has cast some Angel vets to appear in some upcoming episodes! Julie Benz and Amy Acker will both guest star in season 3 and have some interactions with Rob Lowe’s Owen.

According to TV Insider, Benz, who recurred as Darla throughout the Buffy spinoff’s five-season run, will first appear in the premiere episode as artist Sadie. As an outdoors woman with the humility and wonder of a naturalist, she has the swagger and brass as a native Texan. Sadie is in the cabin next to Owen’s in the hill country

“Sadie is there for this first adventure [of the ice storm hitting Austin], and she absolutely could come back at some point,” executive producer and co-showrunner Tim Minear told TV Insider. “Owen and Sadie are not really a romantic coupling so much as two formidable self-assured people who find each other in a moment of crisis.”

Acker, meanwhile, who starred in Angel as Fred and then Illyria, will show up in the fifth episode of season 3 as chief of staff to the governor of Texas, Catherine. She is an alpha, accomplished, beautiful, and formidable and will appear in multiple episodes.

“She’s in the political world in sort of a rarified space,” Minear said. “She’s somebody who will come into Owen’s orbit,” and their dynamic is also “super fun and sexy.”

Aside from Angel, Julie Benz can be seen in Hawaii Five-0 and Dexter, while Amy Acker can be seen in Suits and The Gifted, among other projects.
