On October 10, 2021, Paramount + released a first-look clip for the upcoming kid’s animated series Star Trek: Prodigy.
Star Trek: Prodigy is the highly anticipated animated kid series from Paramount+ and Nickelodeon and follows a crew of young aliens in the Delta Quadrant who find and take control of an abandoned Starfleet ship called the U.S.S. Protostar. The group must learn to work together as they make their way towards the Alpha Quadrant.
The clip features the return of the iconic Star Trek character, Janeway, voiced by Kate Mulgrew in the animated series. The clip was released during the show’s cast and producer panel at New York Comic-Con.
During the panel, it was announced that Daveed Diggs (Hamilton), Jameela Jamil (The Good Place), Jason Alexander (Seinfeld), and Robert Beltran (Star Trek: Voyager) joined the season 1 voice cast with recurring roles. Diggs will voice Commander Tysess, Jamil will voice Ensign Asencia, Alexander will voice Doctor Noum, and Beltran will reprise his role of Captain Chakotay from Star Trek: Voyager.
Star Trek: Prodigy premieres on Thursday, October 28, exclusively on Paramount + with a one-hour episode titled “Lost & Found.” In the episode, a group of outlaw teens exiled to a mining colony discover an abandoned Starfleet ship. It will be up to Dal to gather up an unlikely crew to escape, but the Diviner and his daughter Gwyn have other plans.
