Happy Birthday, Umbrella fans! In celebration of October 1, 1989, the birthday of our favorite hero team, Netflix announced that season 3 of The Umbrella Academy will be debut in 2022.

As of right now, there isn’t much more to go on. However, there were about 18 months between seasons 1 and 2, so perhaps we can expect a little similarity regarding the premiere of season 3. Filming wrapped on the newest season at the end of August.

Season 3 will see the return of our favorite Hargreeves siblings played by Tom Hopper (Luther), David Castañeda (Diego), Emmy Raver-Lampman (Allison), Robert Sheehan (Klaus), Aidan Gallagher (Five), Justin H. Min (Ben), and Elliot Page (Vanya), along with Colm Feore (Sir Reginald Hargreeves), and Ritu Arya (Lila). However, there’s a new group in town as well.

The Sparrow Academy has arrived, including getting their very own Twitter account to mark this momentous day. The Sparrow Academy is a new group of heroes taken on by Reginald when he saw just how his original choices panned out in season 2 …

The Sparrows are:

  1. Marcus played by Justin Cornwell
  2. Ben, yes THAT Ben, played by Justin H. Min
  3. Fei played by Britne Oldford
  4. Alphonso played by Jake Epstein
  5. Sloane played by Genesis Rodriguez
  6. Jayme played by Cazzie David

You can check out some of our theories while trying to figure out what all this cryptic Twitter arguing means, but it doesn’t look like these two groups will be co-existing anytime soon.

Stay tuned for more news on season 3 as it drops and look back at our coverage of season 2! Season 3 of The Umbrella Academy will debut exclusively on Netflix in 2022.
