Netflix’s hit anti-hero series, The Umbrella Academy, is gearing up to begin filming the third season, and in preparation they’ve released the cast for the newest group of super-humans that were introduced in the final minutes of season 2 — The Sparrow Academy.

The Sparrow Academy and its seven members are shrouded by mystery — why are they there, and are they friend or foe? Fans of the comics will be familiar with the name, but with the introduction of the clan (and the inclusion of Ben) being vastly different than that of the comics, even that may not may help decipher how the Sparrows will be utilized in the television adaption.

Today, details for the characters and actors were released, giving a little insight into the powers and personalities of the seven Sparrows, and yes, one is a cube.

Marcus, Number 1: Played by Justin Cornwell (Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey), Number 1 is the leader (sorry Ben, we thought it would be you, too). Described as “a charming, chiseled, colossus. Honest, virtuous, and demanding, Marcus keeps the family together” (we’re getting major Luther vibes…), he’s a confident, calm and effective leader for Hargreeves’ super-Sparrow bunch.

Ben, Number 2: Look out Diego, the Number 6 you knew and loved has turned into a cold-blooded, skilled tactician. Fans will remember the soft and sweet (and dead) Ben played by Justin H. Min from the first two seasons, but don’t get confused — that’s not who Sparrow Ben is, even though it’s Min’s familiar face playing him. Much like Umbrella’s Number 2, Diego, Ben has a desire to be a leader at any cost. His powers are the same as Umbrella Ben, a vicious squid ready to burst from his chest and throw tentacles at anyone in his way.

Fei, Number 3:  Britne Oldford (The Path) will play Fei, Number 3, “a misanthrope who would rather be alone than spend even a second with you,” however, deep down she just wants a friend. She’s smart and relentless, always the first to figure out a solution and the last to stop until the job is done.

Alphonso, Number 4: Battle hardened and scarred, Jake Epstein (Suits) is Number 4. Alphonso shares a similar wit to Klaus, Umbrella’s Number 4, with a “biting sense of humor” and grand ability to verbally assault anyone who gets in his way. He’s also a sucker for a pizza and six-pack of beer. While Klaus is more a fan of tacos and burritos, one can only hope these two get to share a snack at some point.

Sloane, Number 5: Genesis Rodriguez (The Fugitive) is Number 5 (a Number 5 with a name!). Much like Umbrella’s Number 5, Sloane has an obligation to her family she just can’t seem to shake, but that doesn’t stop her from being a “romantic and a dreamer who feels a higher cosmic calling leaving her eager to see the world and experience a life beyond her upbringing.” She’s got plans, and maybe one day she’ll be brave enough to act on them.

Jayme, Number 6: A loner in a hoodie, Cazzie David (86’ed) is Number 6. With a fear-inducing snarl that will send anyone packing, Jayme is quiet and intelligent, typically seen hanging out with her only friend, Number 4, Alphonso. (Klaus = Number 4, Ben = Number 6, we’re catching on …)

Christopher, Number 7: EXISTENTIAL DREAD INDUCING PSYKRONIUM CUBE (Newcomer) a.k.a Christopher rounds out the Sparrow Academy. He is a cube of unknown origin who “can turn the room freezing cold and induce paralyzing fear.” Okay … we’re listening. He’s the family’s trustworthy mediator and oracle, giving sage advice to those who need it. Christopher is treated as one of the siblings (Vanya is about to be a little upset …) and is a force to be reckoned with. Uh oh…

The Sparrows at first glance look like they will mirror their Umbrella number counterparts, with the Sparrows seemingly a little more … functional? Season 3 is going to be a ride. You can see a few of our theories for season 3 here.

Other cast members confirmed for season 3 are Tom Hopper (Luther), David Castañeda (Diego), Emmy Raver-Lampman (Allison), Robert Sheehan (Klaus), Aidan Gallagher (Five), Justin H. Min (Ben), Ellen Page (Vanya), Colm Feore (Sir Reginald Hargreeves), and Ritu Arya (Lila).

The Umbrella Academy seasons 1 and 2 are currently streaming on Netflix, no date for Season 3’s release has been revealed yet.
