Marvel Studios introduced a new animated series this year, What If…?, which flips the script on the Marvel Cinematic Universe, reimagining famous events from the films in unexpected ways. With five episodes down and four still to go in the first season, a mid-season sneak peek trailer has just been released!

Based on the Marvel Comics anthology series that dates back to the late 70s, What If…? has been an incredible venture thus far. Countless MCU veterans appear in the series, voicing the animated counterparts of their live-action characters, like Mark Ruffalo, Chadwick Boseman, Sebastian Stan, Jeremy Renner, Samuel L. Jackson, Paul Bettany, Tom Hiddleston, Danai Gurira, Paul Rudd, Emily VanCamp, and many others.

What If…? has captivated audiences with its beautifully fluid animation style and clever storytelling, diving down untravelled paths to explore tales like Peggy Carter as the First Avenger, T’Challa as Star-Lord, a failed Avengers initiative, a dark version of Doctor Strange, and Marvel Zombies.

What other stories still remain? Watch the trailer below for a peek at what’s to come.

Based on the trailer, it looks like we’ll be seeing the return of Captain Carter, Natasha Romanoff with Red Guardian’s shield, Doctor Strange Supreme and Thor, a showdown with Ultron, another take on Tony Stark with the Infinity Gauntlet, Ego, Carol Danvers, and much more.

Catch the next episode of What If…? exclusively on Disney+ Wednesday, September 15, which will focus on Killmonger.
