Though we still have a while to wait until its official release, we now have a title for the Downton Abbey sequel film — Downton Abbey: A New Era.
Fans can rest assured that this upcoming film will most certainly be as wonderful and captivating as the first film and the original series, because creator Julian Fellowes and the entire Downton cast will be returning.
A few newcomers will be coming to town for A New Era, including Hugh Dancy (Hannibal), Laura Haddock (Guardians of the Galaxy), Nathalie Baye (Nox), and Dominic West (The Wire).
Taking place between 1912 and 1926 with a six-season run, Downton Abbey is a historical drama that follows the lives of the British aristocratic Crawley family and their servants. The series ended in 2015, and the first film premiered in 2019, picking back up in 1927 during a visit by the King and Queen to the Crawley’s English country house in the Yorkshire countryside.
First announced back in April, Downton Abbey: A New Era was originally slated to hit theaters on December 22. The release date was later shifted. Audiences can catch Downton Abbey: A New Era in theaters on March 18, 2022.
