‘Malignant’ Trailer Drops, Ensuring Sleepless Nights in September

Share:

A new horror film coming in September from director James Wan (Saw, Insidious, The Conjuring) and will continue his domination of the horror genre, Malignant. Initially created by Wan, Ingrid Bisu, and Akela Cooper (who also wrote the screenplay), the film stars George Young, Jacqueline McKenzie, and Mckenna Grace.

The Malignant trailer shows Annabelle Wallis having visions of murders while it is happening somewhere in the city. Annabelle’s character is first seen sleeping when she has an out-of-body experience transporting into a house where she witnesses the murder. Shortly after waking up, she sees that the woman in her dreams is the woman who has been murdered in real life. After at least one more similar vision, she digs deeper and finds a connection with someone named Gabriel, which she discovers from a home video from her life with her adopted family. We hear her mother tell Annabelle, “Whatever happened before you joined our family hurt you in a way that I can’t even imagine.” You can watch the trailer below.

The pace, special and visual effects will feel familiar to James Wan fans. Just like previous horror series, Malignant promises the thrill and horror expected from Wan. The cast is very familiar with the supernatural, from the lead star, Annabelle Wallis (AnnabellePeaky Blinders) to Jake Abel (Supernatural).

You can find Malignant out in theaters on September 10, 2021, and HBOMax.
