Batwoman has gained a new series regular. Deadline is reporting that Victoria Cartagena will join the cast for season 3. She is set to play Renee Montoya. Cartagena previously played the character on FOX’s Gotham. She joins the other previously announced series newcomer Robin Givens.

Renee Montoya is a former GCPD officer. She left when the corruption within the department became too much. (Hmm, this sounds similar to a certain ex-Crow.) She is “righteous and pragmatic,” with a mysterious and personal mission to clean up Gotham, no matter what. She is also a member of the LGBTQ+ community.

There are currently no further details on how entwined Renee will be with Ryan/Batwoman in the show. As both women have similar goals, it’s likely a team-up is in the future. However, they may also have clashing ideas on how to help Gotham that may lead to some friction. We’ll have to wait and see.

Batwoman returns on Wednesday, October 13 at 9 p.m. ET/8 p.m. CT on The CW. Find our coverage on the show here.
